On behalf of our client, OCI is seeking a Project Manager with the skills and experience necessary to coordinate, monitor and control the major activities and deliverables of the New Generation Network project, track and report on project status, participate in and facilitate issue tracking and resolution, assist with the planning of new work-packages, and participate in the development of various project communications. Coordinate with partner organizations and be responsible for overall integration management between parties, including identifying, defining, aligning and coordinating project activities.Required Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated Project Management experience working with multiple stakeholders groups to jointly achieve project objectives
  • Planning, managing and controlling project scope and integration of various project components
  • Planning, managing and controlling project schedule
  • Preparing and delivering project communication
  • Working with data network services or on network related projects
  • Writing and Organization
  • Ability to take initiative and drive work through to completion

Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Integration and Scope Management including:
  • Lead quarterly planning sessions to define major project priorities for next 3 months and work with identified leads in further planning, execution and status reporting of these items
  • Plan, monitor and control project work-packages and help move them through to completion
  • Participate in the execution of project work if/as needed including, but not limited to, business analyst activities, communication, and administration.
  • Work to combine, unify and coordinate the various project activities across the project partner organizations and within the Ministry NGN team
  • Identify, track and resolve identified issues
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the project or related processes
  • Complete project closure activities
  • Time Management including:
  • Monitor and control progress towards monthly, quarterly and annual NGN site installation and transition targets
  • Work with partner organizations to identify schedule variances and take corrective actions
  • Manage the Three Year District Transition Schedule, including change management related to adjustments in district placement in the schedule
  • Communication Management including:
  • Status reporting, including for project and Ministry audiences
  • Regular PM communication with partner organizations including development of agenda and leading bi-weekly PM meetings, governance committee status reporting, and circulation of minutes and tracking of action items
  • Regular reporting to project sponsor regarding any issues, risks or items of note
  • Preparation of communication material, including the monthly newsletter and quarterly Ministry updates Development of presentation material for conferences or updates to the K – 12 sector and other stakeholders
  • Maintenance of project communication tools including the communication log, contact list and project calendar
  • Continue to develop and foster effective working relationship with project partner organizations

  • Monthly NGN newsletters
  • Presentation material for various governance and stakeholder bodies
  • Change Requests
  • Project Charters
  • Decision Requests

Location: Vancouver, BC

Start Date: Jan, 2016

Assignment Length: 1.5 years (18 months), may extend another year.
